Chaosium. Inc. is sponsoring this year’s Broch-Con!

We were delighted a little while ago to learn that a powerhouse Table Top Roleplaying company would be sponsoring and providing goodies for this year’s Broch-Con!

In spite of my presence, Broch-Con 2 last year, which takes place in Fraserburgh, north east Scotland, was a huge success – just check out some of the photos from the event HERE.

The Broch-Con organisers decided to cunningly name the event this year as Broch-Con 3, and so on August 3rd this local geeky initiative once again descends upon the unsuspecting muggles, nerf-herders and other various uninitiated populace in this beautiful part of the world.

About Chaosium

So the fine people at Chaosium, Inc offered as part of one of their campaign’s this year, to sponsor this year’s Broch-Con. Chaosium was founded by visionary game designer Greg Stafford in 1975. For the past half-century, Chaosium has captivated gamers, readers and mythic adventurers worldwide. Its award-winning roleplaying games, boardgames and fiction have been acclaimed as some of the most engaging and innovative of all time. The Call of Cthulhu tabletop roleplaying game is its most famous and revered line.

So way back in Februrary I contacted Chaosium Inc. (who make Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, Pendragon, 7th Sea & more) replying to their 50th Anniversary celebrations offer to send out convention packs to certain approved contacts. Chaosium are well-known for acknowledging that since the beginning of our hobby half a century ago, conventions big and small have been a vital part of a thriving tabletop gaming community.

*

I’ve had the genuine pleasure to deal extensively with the company over the last couple of years and I want to say (without any undue influence) that they are a pleasure to deal with. In fact, along with Arc Dream Publishing and Free League Publishing they form perhaps the finest (in terms of products and customer service), they form a trio-umberate of incredible TTRPG publishers. So I mentioned Broch-Con to Chaosium, sent them the event details from last year and mentioned that I know the people behind the venture.

Well, I’m delighted to say that apparently I’m a certified approved contact having approved my Chaosium 50th Anniversary Convention Pack application – lo and behold they sent me heaps of Chaosium related game products for use at Broch-Con worth around $500, along with 2025 convention demos and unique discount code.

Check out the video below for some more information and a look at the materials sent by Chaosium. Apologies fir the overhead camera quality – it was my cat’s fault!

Essentially we are welcome to use these physical products as we see fit: as prizes or giveaways, as gifts of appreciation for special guests or VIGs, for volunteers or GMs, or add them to the convention’s game library. Watch this space for what the Broch-Con organisers intend to do with the products.

On behalf of the 5D Pop Culture Website I will be running a bespoke Broch-Con Call of Cthulhu scenario…….or sat in a corner on my lonesome (It wouldn’t be the first time – the choice is yours!)

The chosen scenario is ideal for beginning and experienced players and Keepers alike. It was originally designed as a demonstration game to give a taste of the game’s core motifs—mystery, investigation, and horror—for those with limited time. The scenario can be played in as little as one hour but can often go slightly beyond that. It also comes with four ready-made investigators so you can jump right into the action!

You can put your name down to play at the door when you arrive.
