So the good news is that we’re only a couple of weeks away from Comic-Con Scotland Aberdeen at P&J Live’s Baker Hughes Exhibition & Conference Hub on 12-13 March, 2022. The bad news, for those of you who have tickets and are busily counting down the days, is that the 5D Pop Culture Podcast (keep up, that’s us) will also be there in the form of myself and Podcast co-host Zack. And before any of you think you’re being funny, no, we will not be cosplaying as ‘clueless press guys’…….that will be our normal look. Yes, that’s correct, because my months of messaging, begging, threatening and crying have finally paid off with the notification of press access heading our eager way.

So apparently there are a large number of attendees at the event that are even more esteemed than us (I know, difficult to believe!) and over the last few weeks the organisers have tantalisingly drip-fed us ever more tasty Comic-Con titbits. For a more complete rundown of the marvellous people from the world of pop culture coming to Aberdeen you could do worse than take a look at one of our recent articles RIGHT HERE.

As you’ll see from the montage type image thing below, the Comic-Con line up is such that it’s difficult to select who and what I’m looking forward to seeing and experiencing the most, but I’ll have a go. As something of a The Walking Dead obsessive, the likes of Steven Ogg, Ryan Hurst and Ross Marquand no doubt feature in my list, as do Michael Malarkey (Project Blue Book, Vampire Diaries), Peter Weller (Robocop), Claudia Wells (Back to the Future) and Clive Russell (Game of Thrones). Special mention goes out to the anticipation for the Still Game cast and of course, Jet (Diane Youdale) from the Gladiators series………be still my beating heart.

To those who know me well it comes as no surprise that amongst my ever changing all-time movie top 10 The Lost Boys invariable never fails to feature. So you can imagine my delight when it was announced some time ago that actor Jason Patric was due to attend the convention.
However……….. a recent change in Jason Patric’s filming schedule means that he can no longer make the event.

But fear not, because his ‘replacement’ is a little bit special…..in fact, you could say that he’s a little bit magical (well you could say that if you didn’t mind sounding completely corny, so I’ll get my coat), because Mark Williams will now be tending the event!
Mark Williams is an English actor, presenter and screenwriter. He first achieved widespread recognition as one of the central performers in the popular BBC sketch show The Fast Show. His film roles include Horace in the 1996 adaptation of 101 Dalmatians and Arthur Weasley in seven of the Harry Potter films. He made recurring appearances as Brian Williams in the BBC television series Doctor Who and as Olaf Petersen in Red Dwarf. Since 2013, Williams has portrayed the title character in the long-running BBC series loosely based on the Father Brown short stories by G. K. Chesterton.

If all that wasn’t enough for we Potterheads then there’s a collection of other Wizard related goodies including Harrid’s motorcycle, a platform 9/4 set build and the Weasleys Ford Anglia.

I’ve barely scratched the surface of the goodies in store for us all in the next couple of weeks so for a fuller picture of the events taking place over the two days and news of tickets left then go to https://www.comicconscotlandnortheast.co.uk/

Oh, and if you see two guys with press passes wandering around (one of whose looks old enough to know better, but doesn’t care as he wears his Gamblers hat with pride) then say hello to the guys from 5D and we’ll even try to give you a mention on the next podcast episode.
