Delta Green RPG Operation Report: Operation Alice – Session 8

DELTA GREEN // OPERATION REPORT

[Classification: TOP SECRET – For Certain Eyes Only]

Date/Time: 1500 HRS
Location: City Records Building, [REDACTED]
Subject: Operation Status Update – Case File 1995/022 – “Abigail Wright”

EVENT TIMELINE:

15:00 HRS
Upon preparing to exit City Records, agents were alerted by a voice over the public announcement system:
“Ladies & Gentlemen, please take note of this piece of information… 12, 11, 10, 9.”
This sequence was immediately recognized as part of the countdown previously experienced at the Macallister Building, starting from 20. Notably, no civilians in the busy entrance reacted to the peculiar message.
Sanity & corruption issues ensued.

15:05 HRS
Upon exiting, agents received multiple missed calls from Case Officer Agent Marcus. Due to the sensitivity of the operation, agents opted for a secure payphone to return contact. Marcus was notably displeased and instructed the team to address Thomas Wright, who had been spreading information about working with FBI agents and noticing peculiar symbols on dropped paperwork. Wright mentioned observing a green triangle insignia and an additional strange symbol, causing potential security risks.

16:00 HRS
Agents were reminded of operational directives, including neutralizing potential leaks. A meeting was arranged with Wright at 1900 HRS outside the Macallister Building. Options discussed by the team included:

* Shooting Wright.

* Leading him into the Macallister Building to assist in locating Abigail.

* Murdoch’s suggestion to take Wright to the roof then throwing him off was dismissed as impractical and risky.

16:30 HRS
Agents debated their next steps. Primary locations considered:

* ARTLIFE

* The Mercury Art Gallery

* The Bookshop (previously mentioned by Wright as where Abigail purchased the “red book”)

* The Macallister Building.

It was decided to visit The Bookshop before nightfall, with a return to the Macallister later in the evening.

BOOKSHOP ENCOUNTER:
17:15 HRS
The Bookshop was difficult to locate, hidden down a small side street near the Macallister. The storefront was cluttered, its window obscured by a rusted security gate. Agents observed vague figures moving inside, though there were no clear signs advertising the shop’s presence. Only traces of the word “BOOKS” remained on the window in faded golden paint.

17:20 HRS
Upon entering the store, agents were met by the proprietor, identifying himself as Robert (Bob). He was a tall man of North African descent, meticulously dressed, smoking Turkish cigarettes. His demeanor was enigmatic, speaking with a precise French-African accent. He exhibited vast knowledge of literature, speaking about nearly any written subject with ease. He encouraged agents to “wander far and wide, and seek what is hidden.”

17:30 HRS
Upon questioning about Abigail Wright, Robert was cooperative. He retrieved an ancient ledger and revealed a recent entry dated February 22, 1995, placing Abigail in the Bookshop on that date. The ledger was written in flawless Arabic, resembling machine-printed text.

17:40 HRS
When agents inquired about purchasing a red book, Robert excused himself to seek “permission” from an unknown party. While waiting, Agent Militia observed the counter while Marvin and Murdoch began exploring the shop. The layout was chaotic, with shelves forming labyrinthine paths lit by dim bulbs. Ancient books lined the walls, stacked precariously, giving the shop an eerie and oppressive atmosphere.

18:00 HRS
Marvin failed an Alertness check and barely noticed an impeccably dressed man exit the shop. Robert returned, shouting, “Good day, Mr. Daribondi!” Agent Militia pursued the man outside but found no trace. Sanity & corruption issues ensued.

18:10 HRS
Robert granted permission to sell the red book. He led Agent Marvin deep into the back of the shop, navigating winding corridors and descending into a cramped, hidden basement. In the dark, Marvin witnessed a scarred hand pass a copy of the book to Robert.
Sanity & corruption issues ensued.

DISCOVERY – HIDDEN DOOR:
While Marvin was led away, Agents Murdoch and Militia discovered a small, child-sized red door hidden behind a stack of books. After clearing the obstruction, they uncovered the door, which measured approximately 0.6 meters in height and 0.3 meters in width. It featured a large letter slot and a set of iron bars embedded in the wall behind it.

Without warning, the letter slot opened, and a copy of The King in Yellow (Red Book Edition) dropped to the floor. Agent Militia examined the book but did not read it.
Sanity & corruption issues ensued.

Faint chanting could be heard from behind the door:
“There was a red man, in a red house, who had a red room with a red door, he took a red book and put it right through, and then the book wasn’t there anymore.”

Further attempts to investigate the chanting revealed muffled voices, possibly identifying themselves as FBI agents, but no further details were discerned.

18:30 HRS
All agents now possess a copy of the Red Book. Agents exited the Bookshop and retreated to a nearby café for rest and discussion.

OFFICER THOMAS WRIGHT ENCOUNTER:
19:30 HRS
During their meal, Officer Thomas Wright appeared at the café window. He reported visiting The Mercury Art Gallery and purchasing the last remaining unsold painting from Abigail Wright’s November exhibition. The agents and Wright returned to the Macallister Building to inspect the painting.

The painting depicted a classic summer day, with people dancing and walking in a park. Among the figures was a clown waving a trail of paper. Closer examination revealed a group of four figures sitting on a bench—an exact likeness of the agents’ recent meeting with Case Officer Marcus. In the corner of the painting, Abigail’s signature was visible, dated November. A faint Yellow Sign was also present. Officer Wright became transfixed by the image.
Sanity & corruption issues ensued.

CASE FILE STATUS:

Next steps pending: Investigation continues into leads at ARTLIFE, Mercury Art Gallery, and the Macallister Building.

Priority alert: Containment protocols needed regarding Agents Militia, Murdoch and Marvin. Top priority protocol for Officer Thomas Wright and further exploration of the Bookshop.
