Press Release
Local hip-hop promoters HOURS and leading creative organization Aberdeen Performing Arts join forces for the second in a series of events in the Granite City.
*
Following a series of highly successful shows around Scotland, including a nationwide tour and collaboration with the Scottish Jazz Festival, HOURS have been contracted by Aberdeen Performing Arts for a series of three events at the prestigious venue The Lemon Tree.
*
The first of these events saw HOURS present a showcase of leading UK Drill and Trap talent from the city, headlined by rappers Yxng Stunna and M2, fresh off their smash single “DUUK”, filmed at Pittodrie and co-signed by the player himself on social media. The event was a great success with around 200 in attendance celebrating the home grown talent, which also saw Symi Nemesis, Chachy and Marrco take the stage.

The HOURS and APA partnership is back again on December 22nd, taking over The Lemon Tree on Mad Friday for a shift towards highlighting the musicality of MCs in the city, seeing rappers perform alongside live bands. Local star Chef The Rapper headlines the event, who continues to solidify his place as Aberdeen’s top rap export with multiple Track of The Week awards from BBC Radio Scotland, as well as a place on the BBC Introducing Act of the Year shortlist. He will be supported by rising indie favourites Hitlist, fresh off their headline show at OGV Podium with recent performances at Beach Ballroom and Glasgow’s iconic King Tuts. Additional MCs on the bill include JusHarry, CRPNTR and Josh McLean, with backing from the HOURS House Band.
*
Times are increasingly difficult financially for everyone now especially with the run up to Christmas, so tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can-basis. This ensures accessibility to the event for anyone who would like to attend and show support for independent music in the city. Tickets are available now via www.aberdeenperformingarts.com/whats-on/hours/, and the event is open to all 14 and above.
