Jenna Coleman Announced for Comic Con Scotland (Aberdeen)

Comic Con Scotland has added another quietly brilliant name to its Aberdeen guest list, with Jenna Coleman confirmed to appear at the event.

*

For many fans, she’ll forever be associated with Doctor Who, where she played Clara Oswald, one of the Doctor’s most complex and emotionally layered companions. Across multiple incarnations of the Time Lord, Clara evolved from mystery to moral anchor, and Coleman handled the role with a confidence that matched the show’s ambition at the time. It’s a performance that still sparks debate, rewatch marathons, and the occasional heated ranking of companions in pub conversations.

Jenna Coleman’s Clara Oswald is unusual in Doctor Who terms in that she spanned two very different Doctors. She first appeared alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, where Clara was framed as a puzzle to be solved — the “Impossible Girl” — bringing a fairy-tale tone and a strong narrative hook to the tail end of Smith’s era.

*

She then carried on into Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor, and this is where the character really deepened. The Clara–Twelve dynamic was sharper, darker, and far more morally complicated, with Coleman effectively acting as the Doctor’s equal rather than a wide-eyed audience surrogate. On a brief side-point – for me, Capaldi remains one of the show’s most underrated Doctors, and Coleman’s performance is a big part of why that era has aged as well as it has.

Outside the TARDIS, Coleman has built an equally impressive résumé. She led ITV’s Victoria as Queen Victoria, carrying a major period drama with a performance that balanced authority, vulnerability, and sharp intelligence. It’s not easy to make royal duty feel human, but Coleman managed it without ever tipping into melodrama.

*

Her earlier work on Emmerdale introduced her to a wide television audience, and she’s continued to move between television and film with ease. On the big screen, Me Before You showed another side to her range, anchoring a romantic drama that connected strongly with audiences.

At Comic Con Scotland in Aberdeen, fans can expect the usual opportunities for photos, autographs, and panel appearances. More importantly, it’s a chance to hear from an actor who has navigated fandom-heavy roles and mainstream drama.

*

This announcement is another solid win for the Aberdeen event, reinforcing Comic Con Scotland’s knack for booking guests with genuine cross-genre appeal. Whether you’re a Doctor Who devotee, a period drama fan, or just someone who appreciates good acting done without unnecessary noise, Jenna Coleman’s appearance is well worth noting.

*

As ever, keep an eye on Comic Con Scotland’s official channels for scheduling details and further guest announcements. Aberdeen is shaping up nicely.
