Terra Invictus: Campaign Setting for ShadowDark – Now in Print

Terra Invictus is a massive overland campaign setting for ShadowDark.

Staggering Geography. Explore 330 keyed hexes across temperate, badland, and tropical biomes. Hitch a ride between 25 settlements on various forms of transportation or buy your own donkeys, horses, carts, wagons, canoes, boats, and sailing ships to explore this vast territory.

*

Informed Choices. Live up to the old school philosophy of providing players with information about the world before they make a choice. Rumor tables in every town align with dozens of NPCs that can offer tips and guidance. Players can make informed choices about where to go and how to get there.

*

Powerful Faith. Enter a world of 117 deities, 39 for each alignment. Encounter their priests in settlements or walking the land. Use a pilgrimage mechanic to find a holy site for your faith and travel there. Expand your faith using Acts of Devotion, an alternative to carousing.

Terrifying Monsters. Face almost every monster in the ShadowDark core rules + 33 new monsters to add to your ShadowDark repertoire, including giant ants, bloodworms, bullywugs, dragonnes, giant eagles, ettins, lamassu, quasits, satyrs, and giant turtles.

*

Insidious Evil. 10 powerful villains and 5 dragons, each with their own motivations, goals, and secret agents scattered across the map. What do you do when the villain is better informed than you are? When they see you coming? When you stumble into their lair following a path laid out by their secret agent, who you thought was just another helpful civilian.

*

*

Dynamic Encounters. Each wilderness hex has a d6 encounter table to provide localized variation every time you pass through. The land will always feel untamed when you are finding something new around every corner.

*

Icon Exploration System. Hex information is organized by icons to make it quick and easy for the GM to find the information they need or run a solo campaign where the icons remind you to make CHA, WIS, or INT checks to learn the information. You can run a full solo campaign from 1st to 10th level.

*

Into the ShadowDark. Many hexes have dungeon locations that you can build yourself using the dungeon generation rules in the ShadowDark core rules. There are also entrances to deeper levels that could be connected into a massive interconnected ShadowDark realm, if you want to go deeper.
