IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME IN WHEELING AND SOMETHING AWFUL’S GETTING FAT.
*
When Eva Weisswald gets a letter from her sister-in-law back east in Wheeling, West Virginia, both inviting her for Christmas and asking for help with her son and a local troublemaker named Bucky Elger, she can’t very well say no, can she? But Dr. Weisswald has already had some brushes with the unusual and knows the Elgers from when she lived in Wheeling years before. The family has gotten stranger since then, and something truly awful seems to be living in Elger House.

The Wolves of Wheeling is a Down Darker Trails scenario set in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1878. The scenario requires only the Call of Cthulhu Keeper Handbook and the Grand Grimoire though Down Darker Trails and H.P. Lovecraft’s Dreamlands are useful.

The Wolves of Wheeling was originally written as a long one-shot scenario. Adapting it to convention play would require a good deal of work as the scenario covers not only a trip to the eastern city of Wheeling, but also a side trip to Baltimore, Maryland, if the investigators want more information on the sinister and inbred Elger family.
*
The Wolves of Wheeling includes:
– A 116-page fully-illustrated scenario set in Wheeling, West Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland, in 1878.
– Information on West Virginia, Ohio and Marshal Counties, Wheeling, Ohio, Belmont County, Bellaire, Bridgeport, Martin’s Ferry, and the Hempfield Tunnel Ghost.
– Twelve fleshed-out NPCs – family, friends, and foil – with information for the investigators.
– Twenty-three inbred members of the Elger family to oppose the investigators.
– Family trees and timelines for the Weisswald and the Elger families.
– Eight detailed esoteric tomes
*
*
– Maps of Wheeling, West Virginia from 1870 and 1877; the lands north of Wheeling; Baltimore, Maryland; two homes in Wheeling; and Elger House, the rotting mansion north of the city. Plus seven separate high-resolution maps of Wheeling and Baltimore.
– Twenty-seven handouts.
– Two statements of fact.
– NPC and investigator portraits to share with the players.
– Six pregenerated Down Darker Trails investigators.
