In 2023, the Miskatonic Repository, Chaosium’s autonomous creator initiative for Call of Cthulhu on DriveThruRPG, has experienced remarkable success. Kudos to the fantastic community of creators and supporters who’ve propelled them to new heights! This year, these independent Call of Cthulhu creators contributed 247 new products to the Miskatonic Repository. As we approach early 2024, they are poised to achieve a significant milestone: surpassing 150,000 titles sold!

Since its launch in December 2017, the program has welcomed 1,268 community titles, averaging four new titles per week. Key achievements include frequent top rankings on DriveThruRPG’s best seller lists, accolades from reviewers and customers, multiple ENNIE awards (special congrats to Stuart Sellens for the 2023 ‘Best Electronic Book’ win with ‘Host and Hostility: Three Regency Cthulhu Scenarios’), and successful appearances at conventions like UK Games Expo, Dragonmeet, PAX Australia, and Chaosium Con.

The program has nurtured new Call of Cthulhu creators through initiatives like the Storytelling Collective’s ‘Write Your First Adventure’ workshop stream, and Miskatonic Repository content is now officially supported on Roll20. Notable outreach efforts include the Miskatonic Playhouse podcast, regular features in the Chaosium blog’s ‘Miskatonic Monday’ series, and promotions on BRP Central, EN World, and RPGNet.

Furthermore, the program has celebrated its content and creators at the annual Miskatonic Repository Con, fostering a vibrant community. It serves as a stepping stone to professional opportunities, with creators like Kat Clay transitioning to write for Golden Goblin Press’s Cthulhu Invictus. Most importantly, it has cultivated a dynamic community of independent Call of Cthulhu creators, each exploring the Mythos uniquely while offering strong support within groups like the Miskatonic Repository Creator’s Circle on Facebook.
