Well don’t ever let it be said that the friends of 5D don’t move in grand circles! It just so happens that long-time friend of the worlds finest pop culture website (that’s this one, by the way), Nainita Desai, has just been nominated for Film Composer Of The Year at the World Soundtrack Awards!

The film in question is The Reason I jump, director Jerry Rothwell’s documentary featuring an insight into the world of non-speaking autistic people. Based on Naoki Higashida’s best-selling memoir is a Sundance winning feature: an immersive cinematic exploration of neurodiversity through the experiences of nonspeaking autistic people from around the world. The film blends Higashida’s revelatory insights into autism, written when he was just 13, with intimate portraits of five remarkable young people. It opens a window into an intense and overwhelming, but often joyful, sensory universe.
