Tomb Raider writer, Lara Croft’s voice actress and fans join forces to create “Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa,” an animation created to tie loose ends in the storyline of “Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TR4) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (TRAOD)”

*

Talented creatives and fans of the popular Tomb Raider have come together to create what can be rightly described as an eyeopener into the events between two games – Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (TR4) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (TRAOD) in Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa. In a related development, the animated film is set to premiere at a screening in Derby, the city where Tomb Raider games were initially created, on October 15th to be followed by a YouTube Live Premiere on October 21st

The enthralling new animated film explains what happened between the franchise’s fourth instalment, Tomb Rader: The Last Revolution, and the sixth, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. The final scenes of The Last Revolution saw heroine Lara Croft trapped under the ruins of a temple, leaving her fate uncertain.

With the fifth instalment not adding much further to the storyline, the sixth edition, The Angel of Darkness, was a captivating tale. However, due to time pressures, a lot of information and scenes had to be cut, including what happened to Lara under the ruins in Tomb Raider 4 and how she was eventually able to escape.

The Story for Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa was written by the writer of TRAOD, Murti Schofield, and will finally provide a proper, canon explanation of the events between two Tomb Raider games. The video is narrated by Jonell Elliott, Lara Croft’s voice actress in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness.

The animation was directed by veteran Tomb Raider fan Ash Kaprielov, who has been named “Lara’s biggest fan” by a number of leading videogame magazines. The communications professional has previously undertaken several Tomb Raider-related projects, including Replay Events’ Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary Core Design QA at Play Expo Manchester 2016 and Tomb Raider: The Dark Angel Symphony – an orchestral music album.

Fellow Tomb Raider fan and award-winning photographer Tina Ljubenkov worked as an Assistant Director, while the artwork was created by Jasmine Steiner. Music and mastering were completed by Dean Kopri, a die-hard Tomb Raider fan who has been celebrated throughout the community for his sweeping and emotionally charged musical tributes to Lara Croft.

In a further nod to the franchise, the animation will receive its global premiere in Derby on October 15th, the city where the original Tomb Raider games were initially created.

*

Held at the Derby Quad Theatre, the premiere is part of a whole day celebrating the Tomb Raider franchise and the 20th anniversary of the Angel of Darkness. For fans unable to make the premiere, Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa will premiere on YouTube on October 21st, giving fans across the globe the chance to witness the latest chapter in the ongoing tale.

*

Speaking ahead of the premiere, Ash Kaprielov added, “Tomb Raider: The Myth of El Hawa is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication from some of the biggest Tomb Raider fans in the community and those responsible for some of the most popular instalments of the series.
