The next step in the empowerment of marginalised game developers is here. Code Coven is thrilled to launch our first  Introduction to Game Making with Unreal Engine course, made possible by Epic Games! This part-time, 8-week remote course is entry-level and no previous game development experience is required.
Code Coven is supporting the less heard voices who deserve to be uplifted in our industry. Seats for this program are for those of marginalised genders – including trans/cis women, trans men, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people.

“With enough strong allies, we’ve been able to focus on redesigning these invisible systems to be able to work towards parity and a kinder, inclusive environment for all,” Tara Mustapha (CEO & Founder, Code Coven)

*

*

This inclusive and rigorous program will allow Code Coven to bring Unreal Engine into the classrooms of our students and teach aspiring game developers the ins and outs of utilising this powerful 3D engine. This course also includes career development workshops, preparing students to evolve the games industry and giving them the tools to negotiate a better future for themselves and their peers.

“We want you to graduate from this course ready for your game development journey, by feeling empowered to continue your learning independently and within other programs.” – Francesca Carletto-Leon (Head of Curriculum, Code Coven)

*

A seat in Introduction to Game Making with Unreal Engine is valued at £2,000 GBP and includes 40 hours of class time with a Code Coven instructor, as well as eight guest lectures and workshops from industry professionals. The course will begin in March 2022, running from Monday 7th March – Thursday 28th April 2022.

Here’s what one of our previous participant had to say about Introduction to Game Making:

“My Code Coven experience was truly wonderful! It was filled with well-paced lectures, personal workshops, a welcoming community, caring guidance, informative guest speakers, and genuine passionate people. It was a wonderful eight weeks when I got to meet fellow creators that are passionate about what they do and how to get their foot in the door with the indie game design community. Folks who want to make a difference where it counts.” – Ami (IGM 2020)

Applications for Introduction to Game Making with Unreal Engine are open from 14th January – 7th February 2022 at 11:59PM GMT.
